A real estate listing by the Shumacher Group indicates mainstay Decatur Square restaurant Raging Burrito is for sale. But it’s not closing, according to one of the owners. It appears the decision to sell comes down to co-owner Scott Herman’s plans to retire, his business partner, Parham Savadkoohi, told Decaturish this week. “I think now that he’s getting closer to turning 60, he is ready to focus on the needs and health of himself and his family,” Savadkoohi said of Herman. “I mean, after 30 years, I think he’s earned that right. This industry can be very grueling as far as how much of your time it takes up.” Related stories:• Decatur becomes first dine-in location for Glide Pizza• Kimball House receives a $50,000 historic preservation grant• James Beard award-winning chef Terry Koval opens Fawn in Decatur Savadkoohi, who came on board as Herman’s partner in the restaurant 16 years ago, also wants to move on from the business. He and Herman hope to find a buyer who will continue operating Raging Burrito in Decatur, including maintaining the restaurant’s staff. However, as news spread of the impending sale, people began flooding social media with their concerns over the possible closure of Raging Burrito. Savadkoohi immediately shut those fears down. “We are not closing! We won’t just sell it to anyone! We are just ready to pass it on and focus on other aspects of our lives,” Savadkoohi assured people on Facebook. “We each have sacrificed a lot of our time and we wouldn’t have done it any different. It’s just time for us to shift our focus to our family, ourselves and our loved ones.” Herman first opened Raging Burrito in 1996 in Midtown, before opening a second location on Sycamore Street in Decatur two years later.
