Movies by Moonlight returns for third season at Heritage Amphitheatre

Movies by Moonlight returns in August for three free movie screenings over three months at the Heritage Amphitheatre Lawn off Blue Stone Road. (Provided by Sandy Springs) Movies by Moonlight returns to the Heritage Amphitheatre Lawn off Blue Stone Road in Sandy Springs for a free movie each month from August through October. The city will offer three nights during which families can enjoy classic films under the stars with neighbors and friends, according to a city news release. The films will begin just after sunset, on a 30-foot inflatable screen at the Heritage Amphitheatre Lawn at 6110 Blue Stone Road, Sandy Springs. The amphitheater and concessions open at 7 p.m. The Moonlight Mocktail, featuring a glowing ice cube, will be back by popular demand, according to the release. Movies by Moonlight begins its third season on Friday, Aug. 8, with a screening of “The Parent Trap,” a PG movie from 1988. Lindsey Lohan plays identical twins Annie and Hallie, separated at birth and each raised by one of their biological parents, according to IMDB. They discover each other for the first time at summer camp and plan to bring their wayward parents back together. The Sept. 5 screening will be “A Goofy Movie,” a G-rated animated film from 1995, according to the release. When Max, Goofy’s son, makes a preposterous promise to a girl he has a crush on, his chances of fulfilling it seem hopeless when he is dragged onto a cross-country trip with his embarrassing father, Goofy, according to IMDB. The final screening of the season will be on Oct. 3, with “Practical Magic,” a PG-13-rated film from 1998, according to the release. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman portray two witch sisters in the film, raised by their eccentric aunts in a small town. IMDB’s synopsis of the film said that the sisters face closed-minded prejudice and a curse that threatens to prevent them from ever finding lasting love.
