Started by co-founders Robert Hopper, owner of Atlanta barbershop The Commodore, and Peter Terrones, the cocktail bar at La Cueva will include numerous mezcal offerings, creative cocktails, and wine and beer. In addition to cocktails, the lounge also features Mexican botanas (snacks) and larger dishes for sharing, all created by Chef Luis Damian, who is behind a number of Atlanta-area restaurants like Oaxaca in Chamblee, El Valle in Midtown, and Casa Balam (a 2025 James Beard Award Semifinalist for Best New Restaurant) in Decatur. (Provided by La Cueva) Inspired by classic speakeasys and “modern sophisticated” design elements, the 2,700-square-foot space utilizes soft, indirect lighting and a dark atmosphere to “enhance the depth and drama” of the venue, the press release indicated. La Cueva features a seating capacity of 75 guests, multiple lounge areas, a bar, a side section for private gatherings, along with a small stage for live music performances and DJ sets. The new cocktail lounge will be open six days a week in the evenings and will be located on the second floor of Ponce City Market’s Central Food Hall.
